Are the aussies gonna rule the world of real quality pop?

I mean with Van She’s V this year up and running for the best pop album in a while, what more magic can they conjure from down under?

The electro scene is brimming with insane talents, and now there is a collaboration to drool over.

collabs collabs collabs.

It still keeps my palms sweaty and my heart pounding so give me more sam la more.

Empire Of The Sun is a collaboration between Luke Steele of The Sleepy Jackson and Nick Littlemore of electro favorites PNAU.

Physchedelic pop is the rule of their game and the vibes they manage to produce from this union is magical, its like walking on a dream literally. How can i explain, We are always running for the thrill of it , thrill of it…

Its really not nice to introduce a band as “the one with the song used in the ipod ad”.

Its a given that a band would get a much more attention and scrutiny if their songs are used in an apple commercial.

The title of my post also didn’t highlight that..

It would be convenient to do so but no i’m not gonna do that.

It doesn’t do Chairlift justice.

The song used in the ad was bloody brilliant and I really don’t know how apple keeps on doing it.

Little Pictures are a boy/girl duo from New Zealand who make bloody infectious pop for all your sunshine dreaming.

Its mad mad lighthearted fun. Seriously.

Don’t blame me if it gets stuck in your head or if you find yourself humming to them.

This house is very small, very small and it can fit us all, fit us all.

I wish i could keep you under my bed.

CAMERA OBSCURA LIVE IN SINGAPORE.

you know what i think.

whatever death cab. you have been replaced as the best live indie pop band that graced our fine shores.

and i should really tell you this only after i have gotten my tickets.

They are playing on the 29th of October at the esplanade.

BUT tickets starts selling on the 21st of August. So don’t get them cos I want them all.

Jonna Lee makes crisp indie-pop with melodies perfect for a sunday afternoon.

Her debut album 10 Pieces, 10 Bruises was co-produced with UK songwriter Ed Harcourt and her fiance, Claes Björklund who is part of travis.

Her gentle voice is a huge part of this album and balances perfectly with the music. It really is beautiful pop.

She did a Postal Service cover that is really brilliant as well.

bikini is the name.

infectious light electronic pop is the game.

and it is played to perfection.

having been called a sleepy daft punk, i barely concur.

its a postal service which is less heavy and more fun.

as much as i hate to give comparisons, this band has only two songs i know of thus far.

one cover and one original but both are just superb.

the cover is of feist’s 1234 and their original is really infectious.

dont ask me why i have so much affection for mates of state.

its not entirely logical.

maybe its because there are only the two of them and they manage to produce such lush, complex, varied sounds.

maybe its because they are always under rated to me.

maybe its beacuse they are married with two kids and they dont make music parents do.

maybe its because under all the circumstances and draw of being musicians they manage to remain inseperable.

maybe its because they have a film about themselves.

maybe its because they have nice music videos like below.

but its also mainly because the music they make is mad awesome.

its not too indie and its not too poppy.
not too heavy and not too light.

its the perfect mix of both, a real good balance.
