Since starting out London’s much-heralded bass night ‘Night Slugs‘ way back in 2008, Bok Bok and L-Vis 1990 have made a name or themselves by avoiding the tawdry, screw-face vibe that often comes with the sounds of the UK underground, choosing to focus on the good (if a bit raw) times instead.

Two years on and with their stock still rising, Bok Bok has put together a killer mixtape celebrating the label’s best output. It’s worth noting that this is a very young label with only five releases to its name, yet Night Slugs is already being touted as one of the UK’s most forward thinking imprints, thanks in no small part to the twosome of Bok Bok and L-Vis and their trusty cohort of labelmates – Mosca, Greena, Lil Silva, Kingdom, Egyptrixx, Jam City, Girl Unit and Manara. The mix really does speak for itself – epic in proportion yet well though-out and technically accomplished. Serious hats off for this one.

So what’s next? Well Bok Bok and L-Vis will be flying the Night Slugs flag at what promises to be a phenomenal Sonar closing party, where he will play alongside the likes of Rustie, Untold, Deadboy, Spencer, Swindle, Elijah and Skilliam. For all of you heading off to Barcelona… we’re seriously, seriously jealous!

At 6ft 8″ tall, Tobi O’Kandi isn’t your average looking lead-man of a four piece London band named O. Children, which is currently causing a huge stir in Europe. Then again, O.Children are a far cry from any other band you might be listening to this Spring…

…unless of course you’re listening to early Cure, The Chameleons, Sisters Of Mercy, Bauhaus, Joy Division or Echo & The Bunnymen right now.

O’Kandi, the bands lead singer and chief songwriter channels the undeniable inner and outer workings of a true front-man, reminiscent of the days when the late and great Joey Ramone and Lux Interior ruled the roosts and during a time when to be a freak was to be truly punk.

When they released “Dead Disco Dancer” a few months back, including listening to what The Golden Filter did to it, we were left speechless. And we still are, so watch the video for it below and grab the tracks all the way down down down.

What’s so special about O.Children — along with O’Kandi’s extremely haunting baritone vocals and stage presence, is the bands rhthym section, who provide a driving and hypnotic darkness that blends so harmoniously with O’Kandi’s lead vocals, working in perfect contrast to uplifting, minimal and shoe-gazed guitar playing.

With a single such as ‘Ruins‘ to introduce them to the world, it seems these four lads (still only 19 to 21), could quite have possibly created one of the most exciting sounds and band to come out in 2010. Watch “Ruins” below:

With a name like that, we were quick to pass judgement and assumed they made squeaky, twee electro to be used in movies like spy kids.

We have never been so glad to be wrong.

In their own words, “we make disco music, sometimes cosmic, sometimes psychedelic and sometimes we forget and watch TV..”

Coming onto the scene a few months back with just a few remixes and a single “Ellen” under their belt, the London duo have been releasing some bloody good disco cuts.

The instrumental remix Mighty Mouse did for Bent is by exceptional by anyone’s standard and we were utterly blown away. Anymore of these and we will really be fanatics.

The future looks bright for them, so hesitate no more and download them amazing tracks we absolutely approve of!

Scanners are a London-based rock outfit formed by Matt Mole (guitar, vocals, synths) and Sarah Daly (vocals, bass, violin), later rounded out with the addition of Amina (guitar, keys) and Tom (drums), resulting in the sound and on-stage chemistry that the band is acclaimed for.

2009 saw Scanners finish up recording their second album Submarine with producer Stephen Hague (New Order), which will be released in February 2010 through Dim Mak.

The band’s debut album titled Violence Is Golden was released in 2006 through Dim Mak as well and this release is an impressive follow-up from the UK foursome, spearheaded by the eerily melodic first single “Salvation” with dark wave harmonies that overlay a haunting melody.

The single is accompanied with stellar remixes by Don Diablo, Tittsworth, Dan Sena, Dirty Disco Youth and the band themselves.

Scanners have toured with acts such as The Horrors, The Charlatans & Electric Six.
