DJ-KICKS has gotten the best of the best for compilations over the years. From the likes of Thievery Corporation, Tiga, Four Tet, Erlend Oye, The Glimmers, Hot Chip, Chromeo, K&D etc etc.. they rarely get it wrong. And this time round Juan Maclean takes centre stage.

Its like  a glove to a hand as Juan Maclean has been mint as hell over the years, whether as a band or doing remixing duties for the anyone to everyone who means anything in the music industry. We were ecstatic to learn about the new DJ-KICKS and we got a brand new single of the compilation to share.

Some say Marina is the new Regina Spektor, and we think thats not too bad a point of reference, but we still don’t really get the comparisons.

Along with Ellie Goulding, we probably want to hear her music on top 40 radio much more than gaga or what not.

Instead of falling into the mainstream trap, Marina & The Diamonds decided to take another route and entice us further with the help of Juan Maclean and Fenech Soler for remixing duties and give hollywood a slap in the face for now.

We love it already.

Juan Maclean’s latest album, The Future Will Come, sees the release of a toy and watch accompanying the album’s drop.

New York based design company Nooka have got together with DFA Records in a collaboration that cannot be ignored, especially if you’re a Maclean fan. And if you aren’t, the fact that the collaboration resembles Nooka’s mascot is also something to look out for.

Chairlift’s rise to fame might just do them injustice after all.

With a spot on an ipod commercial (a surefire way to fame), they melted adolescents all over the world with that wonderful ballad.

While they got famous, ardent fans of theirs were bemoaning the labels and stereotypes slapped on their favorite psychedelic band from the NY underground scene.

They were formed and surrounded by an indie-folk scene in 2006, but have progressed to jangly jingles and sexy synths to hit the nail on its head in this digital age.

We do not see their success as a problem though, as the most exciting electronic producers such as Sinden and Juan Maclean have added their touch to one of their tracks “Evident Utensil“.

Funny how these just appeared when MGMT also dabbled with it last year.

Sally Shapiro epitomizes the term “Disco Romance” and her first album was aptly named just that.

We secretly replayed her whole album every now and then even with the whole suffocating banging, trashy scene of late and it is definitely a wonderful surprise to hear some new stuff from this lady.Italo disco is the name of the game and she executes the genre to such grace and perfection.

We know she will be releasing her brand new single “Miracle” on June 16th with a brand new sophomore album which we will be anticipating with all our hearts. It was written and produced by Shapiro’s long time producer Johan Agebjörn, with contributions from Roger Gunnarsson and Bogdan Irkük.

We trust that the queen italo nu disco will not disappoint us and with her latest single we are dropping here, it seems like the romantic wait was well worth it.
