This Is Head hail from Malmö, Sweden and many have clamoured to label them as the sound of Malmö almost immediately.  They easily assumed a natural place in the centre of all things great, with their sounds described as kraut disco meets smart indie rock with Bono-esque vocals.

Since then, they have evolved into something much greater; a confident machine that seems made for the times we live in. Yet they sound timeless. The growth seems to have been rapid, but it was all at their own pace, in their own time.

0001 is their debut album and it sounds as much like the wet streets around Möllevången square in Malmö as they do any spacious warehouse in Brooklyn or deserted parking garage in a remote part of Düsseldorf.

This Is Head’s curiosity has placed them anywhere and nowhere. They are as eager to consume new and old things as any blog, club or DJ out there.

They never thought of a song with the idea of sounding like Yeasayer joining up with the drummer from Neu! in an effort to play unreleased songs by U2 just so they could be mixed by Dan Lissvik from Studio and then be released by Touch & Go. That just happened.

The label has hit us up with one of their tracks “0007″ off their debut release and you have to watch the video above to get a feel of the band as well!

The video above is by another Swede from the same label, Adrian Recordings. Familjen was all over the place some year ago with his unexpected hit “Det snurrar i min skalle” and a remix for Fever Ray, but he’s back with more this time. The first single from the upcoming album – “Mänskligheten” (Humanity) – is called ”När planeterna stannat” (When the Planets Have Stopped).

The music will drag you out on the dancefloor, with grandiose sounds from far out places and the beauty in the single tune from a vintage synth. You might actually get something from just the music if you don’t get the Swedish!

Too many bands shy away from bombast, hoping that a deadpan delivery and a super cool haircut are enough to secure underground credibility. We love Visitor precisely because they’re not afraid to wear their hearts on their sleeves, banging out power chords and crooning like their lives depended on it.

Hard to believe it’s nearly a year since we first got hooked on the sweeping synth-pop melodrama of ‘Los Feeling‘ – a totally zeitgeist tune that symbolised the upward trajectory of electronic power pop, cherry-picking from the Queen, Erasure and Depeche back-catalogues to bring the best of the eighties giants to a new generation.

Yet after what seemed like an endless stream of remixes (including a subtle tweak from Fear of Tigers who steered clear of trying to reinvent the wheel with fantastic results), the trail went dead. Heartbroken is an understatement. It seemed like our new favourite band had ditched us on the very first date.

As such we’re more than a little chuffed to annouce that ‘Los Feeling’ is finally getting the full release it so richly deserves. The track is out on Vulture on June 21st, so be sure to do the right thing and show these guys some serious love.

Top blokes that they are, Kyle and Lucas have decided to share the B-side to the single (a nice housey little number by the name of ‘Love’) with us, so scroll down to get your hands on that one. On top of that we have a link to Alan Braxe’s blinding remix of the title track, see below:

You cannot miss a FM Attack sound in our opinion, and these dreamy dance pop tunes sound really familiar with each listen. Synths are also a staple in his music and we are definitely not complaining.

Practically orgasmic and mellow at the same time, the tunes border on the description of soft disco porn in the summery nights we all wish we had more of.

The Hundred in the Hands is Jason Friedman and Eleanore Everdell. The group was recently signed on to Warp to make intense, emotional music reminiscent of classic dance tunes from NY.

“The more ethereal, gauzy side of our tastes; the Summertime-Gothic and dreamy tracks we made thinking they’d go well with open hydrants and looks that kill.”

That is a description by the band themselves and we absolutely agree with them, as they do not simply make dance music, amalgamating different styles, decades of inspiration, and genres such as French pop, house, dub, even post-punk into a really interesting and fun package.

We fondly remember of their track “Dressed In Dresden”, including “Undressed In Dresden” by Jacques Renault which was a real stunner, and we constantly play it in our sets to repetitive inquisition from strangers.

The Hundred In The Hands said we could give away a track from their upcoming EP This Desert, “Sleepwalkers” and “Ghosts” is making its rounds, enchanting the general public each time its played.

They say you can always count on the Horse Meat Disco guys to trot out a banging disco tune so familiar one can feel entirely comfortable to put on those dancing shoes.

Arguably UK’s finest disco operators return with another killer album of tried and tested underground disco, Italo and rarities that have been tickling, smashing and killing the crowds on the dancefloor.

Since their acclaimed debut compilation on Strut in 2009, residents James, Jim , Severino and Luke (aka Filthy Luka) have continued to lead the way with their packed residencies all over the world. They will be revisiting UK festivals in 2010 such as Glastonbury, Lovebox and T In The Park, and spreading the disco love to some of the world’s biggest festivals including Fuji Rocks (Japan), Calvi On The Rocks (Corsica) and Lollapalooza in the U.S.

Horse Meat Disco Volume 2 brings together another one of the essential selection of New York classics alongside a host of lesser known discoveries for all fans of underground disco.

Anthems include Zanzibar favourite “You Can Get Over” by Stephanie Mills, Italo staple “Walkman” by Kasso and Rinder & Lewis’ “Afrodesia” under their El Coco pseudonym. Rarities include “I’m Not In Love (Girl You’re In Love)” by Freda Payne’s sister Scherrie, “Cherchez Pas” by Swedish model-turned-singer Madleen Kane and Italo oddity “Touch Me Now” by Bravo.

In the case of Swedish model cum singer Madleen Kane, the reason for familiarity is probably right under your nose. Having recorded a couple of charting disco singles, “Cherchez Pas” is taken from the last of her collaborations with the Paris team & CBS France / Warner Bros before moving on to Prelude and eventually work with Giorgio Moroder (!).

We fell in love with Chateau Marmont with their Solar Apex EP last year, including their always slick/sick remixes for the likes of Datarock, Ladyhawke, Heartsrevolution and even Royksopp.

Its been a while since we have received fresh stuff from this fine synth quartet and with a brand new EP ‘Nibiru‘, they return to fascinate us further and create magical fresh sounds which hover  between dark layers and soft melodies to really capture the listener’s attention.

It seems they are trying to tempt us with these EP’s for now, while we wait for a full length to experience the full depth of their style. It is always a pleasure to hear their sounds and its no different this time round, we are hooked.

Every producer of electronic dance music usually has a trademark sound, providing a similar vibe in each bit of their productions. Chas Bronz is one of the few who confounds this theory..

Dipping his fingers  into genres such as funk,  disco, new wave and hip hop, Chas has done it all. Being an all-rounder with a vast knowledge and experience of music, his passion seeps through to reveal his inherent curiosity with the various forms of music.

The latest offering from him is the Walking in Space EP, recently released on Spacewalker Recordings, which we have mentioned a couple of times with the brilliant Toomy Disco and Claes Rosen EPs. Spacey sounds take center stage in this release and you just have to hear it to believe it.

Midnight Juggernauts are to release their second offering “The Crystal Axis” on May 28 on Siberia Records, which is the label run by the band themselves, allowing them all forms of creative control, which can be daunting to most, but it seems to be working out really well for the melbourne band!

Featuring 12 tracks sparkling with a new kind of kaleidoscopic warped pop, including the bands first single ’This New Technology,’ which we have all heard by now, and ‘Vital Signs, the brand new track they have passed to us to share with you!.

The Crystal Axis is a 50-minute symphony of synth-rock invention. Veering from percussive, hypnotic grooves to luxuriant jams, walls of sound, and 70s AM melodic forks

The band wanted the 5 and a half minute version of “Vital Signs” to be the definitive version, not a radio edit – so they’ve decided to give it away, along with a B-Side called “Get Connected” which was written and recorded while creating the album in a house in the middle of nowhere by the beach, before venturing to the studio.

The follow up album was recorded between an isolated house in coastal Australia, and in their own studio this winter in Melbourne – and pretty much like their first sonic offering to the universe ‘The Crystal Axis’ was produced by the band themselves and engineered by Chris Moore (TV on the Radio, Yeasayer, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Liars) after returning from their whirlwind worldwide tour in 2008.

Both “Vital Signs” and the b-side  ”Get Connected” are glorious tracks they have offered to us and for you to enjoy.

Watch the amazing video collaboration between Midnight Juggernauts and KROZM below. The artwork and video concept was from the band themselves and the video was eventually directed by video legends in the making, KROZM.
