Every producer of electronic dance music usually has a trademark sound, providing a similar vibe in each bit of their productions. Chas Bronz is one of the few who confounds this theory..

Dipping his fingers  into genres such as funk,  disco, new wave and hip hop, Chas has done it all. Being an all-rounder with a vast knowledge and experience of music, his passion seeps through to reveal his inherent curiosity with the various forms of music.

The latest offering from him is the Walking in Space EP, recently released on Spacewalker Recordings, which we have mentioned a couple of times with the brilliant Toomy Disco and Claes Rosen EPs. Spacey sounds take center stage in this release and you just have to hear it to believe it.

On the original track itself, Chas guides us through our journey in space with his cosmic chords and retro bassline.

Chas Bronz’s Walking In Space EP may be the latest offering on Spacewalker but its only the 4th release on the label and we cannot help but place great expectations on the new label, with all 4 EPs heavily played in our sets. The 3rd release is by Lazercat, an upcoming female producer from Canada.

It is Lazercat’s debut EP, Nuit Blanche and the original track takes us on an uplifting joy ride, creating an atmosphere to soothe the soul. Special mention goes to the nu-italo duo Flashworx, reinforcing the original for a massive massive track.

Pierre Laroux and Victor Le Manse are Housse De Racket (literally translated as racket cover) and surprisingly, their choice of band name
was much more than a reference to tennis, rather their way of signalling their aim to make a ‘racket’ of house music itself.

Funny then, that they are making one hell of a racket in the electronic music scene.

From having the tectonic dance movement of a remixer, TEPR reinterpret for them previously, this band is finally dropping their concept album Forty Love.

CHEW LIPS have been on our lips for a while now and it only seems natural we feature them as a band to watch.

Having gone through their demos and EPs again and again, they seem to have really struck a chord with us.At the end of 2008, Chew Lips were still unsigned and no label wanted to pick them up.. YET.
They claimed they were waiting for the right record deal anyway.

Fast forward a few months later and what do we have here? They are on Kitsune Compilation 7 and have the world’s attention..all without a full length album released yet.

We do not like to mention bands just because they are on Kitsune or some tried and tested indie label. We still remain picky and promote only the bands we really really like. So what do we have here?

Disco seems to be flashing shiny balls in our face all over again, with pop sensibility written all over these new bands.
It is a enjoyable and active scene these days, from Fan Death and La Roux dominating the disco-electro-dance-pop renaissance. But there is definitely space for Chew Lips to work its way into the public’s hearts.

It helps that they have Tigs (lead singer) has critically acclaimed vocals which packs a real good punch with comparisons to the likes of Beth Ditto and Karen O.

Watch out for them. (we shall refrain from any corny punch lines..its so tempting).

K.I.M. or Kimberley Isaac Moyes is the drummer & keyboard/synth player of the Australian electronic duo The Presets. On his own, he makes some enchantingly brutal dance music under the moniker K.I.M.

Over the years we have been wowed and left weak in the knees after hearing the music by The Presets and unbelievable dance tracks by K.I.M. so now getting to see them live is gonna be a whole new experience.

Don’t expect too much of The Presets though!

As he says in a previous interview:

“it’s very different.. It obviously doesn’t have half the input from Julian [Hamilton] that it has as The Presets. It’s pop music in The Presets, so it’s geared towards that kind of goal—traditional song structures, choruses, a little bit of vocals.

I guess the stuff that I do by myself is kind of like sketches, or like experiments that become fulfilled ideas. And it’s generally geared towards the dance floor. There’s no particular one sound that I’m going for.

I’m trying to experiment with production styles, and musical and creative ideas that I have. Yeah, it’s quite different…I’m not following any rules when I do my own stuff. It’s really like absolute vomit.”

Absolute vomit he says but we still cannot wait to hear what his idea of that is all about.

We are predicting that K.I.M. of The Presets will scorch the dance floor and shoot lasers from his eyes as he drops track after track to keep your nimble feet moving.

He will leave you gasping as you surface to air.

The Streetlife DJs have over 30 years of turntable experience between them, and a blatant disregard for music genres.
Think Soulwax meets Sasha meets Coldcut, but is there even such a thing?

There really isn’t a musical boundary that the Streetlife DJs won’t cross.
A Streetlife set is like one big lesson in the history of dance music, in one night!

We should head straight to the 80s, where as young teenagers, both Stewart & Louis spent most of their time trawling through London’s record stores for early hip hop, electro, funk, rare groove & new wave 80s synth pop. Then towards the end of the decade, the first acid house records emerged from Chicago and that was it, they were both addicted.

Stewart has been DJ’ing for almost 20 years & producing music since he met Louis back in 1998.
He also played before Paul Oakenfold on most weeks, supporting many of the worlds biggest DJs including Sasha, John Digweed, Carl Cox, Deep Dish and Danny Tenaglia.

Louis has forged a successful 12 year career in music production, with over 100 original productions & remixes to his name, under many different aliases. He has also been DJ’ing for many years, since the explosion of the warehouse & rave scene, appearing at many clubs & events across the UK, France & Germany.

Streetlife heroes & influences span far & wide; from Larry Levan & Frankie Knuckles, to Afrika Bambaataa, David Bowie, Prince, Sex Pistols, The Clash, Nirvana, Led Zeppelin, Human League, Kraftwerk, Pet Shop Boys, New Order/Joy Division, Beck, Primal Scream & The Prodigy.

Through to some current Streetlife faves including Soulwax, Justice, Boys Noize, Simian Mobile Disco, Digitalism, Headman, Yuksek, The Glimmers, and a whole host of current nu-wave indie/electro//techno/rave DJs & producers.

Taking those influences on board and re-working them into their own unique sound, a Streetlife DJ set can take you from Altern8 into Depeche Mode, Gangstarr into Daft Punk, Adonis into The Who, all of which will have the special re-edit treatment to give it that unique Streetlife touch.

The Streetlife attitude is quite simp, this is the entertainment industry, so they want to entertain. They’re not doing it for themselves or just to play their own records, and they don’t feel like they have to conform to the latest trend, or follow what Pete Tong played on Friday night.

Quite simply, they want to put smiles on faces and hands in the air.

The Presets are still kicking and screaming in our ear one year on from that monster cult classic of an album aptly titled Apocalypso.

Princess Superstar wants to ROCK U.

She teams up with Alexander Technique once again for a brand new single “Rock U”. They used to play together under the moniker DJs Are Not Rockstars.

It is a ferocious statement, signalling an undeniable talent in Alexander Technique.

Paris Hilton, was publicly humiliated by Swedish house mafia man Steve Angello in move that will leave DJs around the world cheering his name till the end of time.

The socialite showed up at Angello’s showcase at WMC on Thursday night/Friday morning, and found his music “was not even danceable and was frankly giving me a migraine.”

Angello claims Hilton repeatedly asked him to play hip hop. Hilton claimed she only asked him to play Bob Sinclar or Daft Punk.

It led to a huge fight. Hilton’s friend and her entourage got a kicking for apparently slapping Steve Angello.

Steve said this on his twitter: “for someone who claims to make records…dont come into a booth and ask me to play hip hop and then have your doorman slap me. or at least if you wanna do that…..dont moan about it when we all kicked off. dont be so fucking rude.”

Crystal Fighters, fesh from inking a deal with infamous, trend setting, French label Kitsune, bring their Basque influenced, bass loaded electro stylings to the remix table.

Having nailed a dancefloor version of Colouring In’s “Robot Restroom”, they take their skills to smashing remixes of Master Shortie and MIT.
Both take elements of the originals and fuse them over distorted bass and dirty melodies whilst adding elements that are purely Crystal Fighters, just listen for the accented vocals opening each mix before the drops kick in and take the songs into orbit.

Having taken 2008 by storm, with a live Radio 1 session for Rob da Bank alongside headlining Durrr and being placed in Mixmag’s top 100 songs of 2008, the only unreleased track in there, this year looks set to be an even bigger.

With Xtatic Truth set to be released through Kitsune in May as well as being featured on the forthcoming Kitsune Maison 7 compilation, released 23rd May, 2009 looks set to be conquered by the Basque-influenced, bass laden, ‘folktronica’ stylings of this brilliantly insane group.

“I Love London” will finally be getting it’s much anticipated release in the coming months.

La Roux is basically everything you wanna hear in the near future.

When Kitsune signed her up and we heard her first single “Quicksand” last year, we loved it but we didn’t know she was aiming for more than just some love.

Shes IN FOR THE KILL, and she’s doing it for the thrill.

She is practically everything you love about electro, disco beats and so so much more.

Her voice definitely plays its part in sucking us in like helpless creatures.
