WASHED OUT FEAT. CAROLINE POLACHEK ‘YOU AND I’

On a day when incessant rain is threatening to turn Singapore into an ex-island, it seems entirely appropriate to revisit the halcyon days of summer 2009, when evocative lo-fi pop was firmly back on the agenda and everything had a sunny, hazy, chilled-out kinda vibe. Time for some Washed Out wethinks.

Ernest Green arrived in the same explosion of talent that brought us Memory Cassette/Tapes, Neon Indian, Toro Y Moi, Best Coast and Real Estate, releasing one of the year’s most talked-about tunes in the form of ‘Feel It All Around’. Fortunately his new material (performed with an additional vocal turn from Chairlift’s Caroline Polachek) only subtly tweaks this winning formula: the sluggish yet crisp beats and filtered vocals remain, while the tone is just that little bit darker and more mournful. Available for download below!
