Being on a label like Labrador should be a daunting and exciting prospect for most bands, with the likes of The Radio Dept. and The Mary Onettes calling it home. That seems to be a piece of cake for Sambassadeur and they do more than just keep up with them, winning our hearts time and again over the years.
If we would have it our way, this band should be named as our the best pop band out there at the moment. We practically love every EP and full length they have released thus far, but the critics would definitely have none of it and label us radicals as for they are not nearly as pop as gaga (pure gibberish).
“I can try” is the 3rd and next single from Sambassadeur’s recent, third album “European” and will be released on July 7. The label has kindly sent it over so we could share it with you but we have a feeling it’s sunny melancholia vibes with breezy vocals, mellow horns and strings floating glittery drum beats will easily wriggle its way to your heart. Exquisite is the word to describe their version of pop and waking up to summer mornings are a pleasure with them.
The previous 2 singles “Days” and “Stranded” are further justification of their ability to gently cradle and kickstart one’s day all at the same time. Don’t stop at these 3 tracks for it would be tragic if one didn’t get to hear the album in its entirety, with not a single track we can fault.

The band has been around since its formation in 2003, starting as a DIY version of ABBA and being named after the Serge Gainsbourg song “Les Sambassadeurs” They were one of the bands that lead an explosive Swedish pop movement of home recording artists.
Their sound has since continued to grow with their recording budget but on ”European” they’ve finally accomplished creating the grand, classic and orchestrated album they’ve always wanted to.
Other picks from the album: Forward Is All, Small Parade
