In December, Alison Goldfrapp said she and Will finished up on their latest album Head First and were planning to release it on March 22, 2010.
Their first single “Rocket” was premiered on Jo Whiley’s BBC show late Jan and made its way onto the internet. Artwork from the band have always been superior to others, with re-invention considered a staple for every new album.
They have brought the glitter and glamour to their idea of electronic music, ranging from ambient, glam rock to even folk (to name a few). This time though they seem to be planning to take synthpop to a whole new level. Imagine ELO X Olivia Newton John’s “Xanadu” with heavier beats and you might actually get what Head First might be about.
The single “Rocket” will be released a few weeks earlier on 9th of March and comes complete with new remixes by Richard X, Penguin Prison, Grum, and Tiesto, and is accompanied by a fabulous video directed by Kim Gehrig who has done videos for Calvin Harris, Primal Scream, Santogold.
Will the 80s die soon since everyone is saying 2010 will be all about the 90s?
