The late Heath Ledger directed 2 music videos before his death in Jan 08.
He directed a video of the Modest Mouse track “King Rat”, which was a a bonus track from the band’s 2007 We Were Dead Before The Ship Even Sank.
The other track he directed was for Grace Woodroofe’s cover of David Bowie’s “Quicksand”.
They are both set to be released this year.
According to Isaac Brook, the frontman of Modest Mouse: “Heath and I have a mutual friend and when we were in Australia, my fiancé and some of us in the band went out on a boat with him and his family and friends and talked about the idea. The idea sort of dropped, but then he just sent me an email saying that he wanted to do it.”
The video for “King Rat” features animation by Terry Gilliam, who happens to be the Director of The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus, which was Heath Ledger’s last film.
Heath only made it halfway through the filming, but Gilliam vowed to finish the project and so 3 unknown actors stepped in to take over Heath Ledger’s role.
They are Johnny Depp, Colin Farrell and Jude Law.
