Ingrid Michaelson is back with a sophomore effort.
Rolling Stone mag gave her a bad review, others scoffed at her for taking a step back from her mercurial rise.
So whats the truth?
This album is basically a collection of covers, live recordings and new songs. And with a portion of the sales for this album being donated to the Stand Up To Cancer campaign, it seems like this album is her way of giving back.
Another review might be spot on when they said the album was “A nice teaser to satiate fans between proper full-lengths.”
Even with her being featured so frequently on Grey’s Anatomy to Old Navy’s ad campaign, I would think that with Be Ok, she just wants to maintain her presence to the industry and fans alike.
Fans from ‘Girls and Boys‘ will honestly expect more from her, more gravitas and definitely more tracks like “The Way I Am” to make your heart twinge.
If you wanna listen to this album though, don’t judge her by ‘Girls and Boys‘. Listen to this collection and be happy, because it is extremely cheerful and perfect for those days you never want to end, like Sundays.
Her take on Judy Garland’s uber chirpy “Over The Rainbow” is a definite highlight and ‘You and I‘ will make you turn twee instantly with real pop friendly lyrics.
I actually don’t know how Rollling Stone mag had the heart to put down an album that makes one grin in glee.
So the question is, is it worth purchasing?
Most definitely, you get to support a good cause along with enjoying the simple pleasures of high quality tunes. Go for it.

On another note, does anyone have the cover of Death Cab’s “I Will Follow You Into The Dark” which Ingrid Michaelson did??
